With a shimmering silhouette, this Art Deco necklace is Czech made and a classical example of jewelry from this time period. Full sized, yet thin glass cabochons, lay flush when worn and sit in an open setting for the maximum amount of light and refraction. With a variety of sizes of geometrically shaped glass, the piece frames the neck strikingly. Three drops extend below and adjust to your neckline catching sparkle as they shift slightly.

This piece is fresh looking with some signs of wear and age that are noticeable only on inspection. The setting has a silvery/brassy patina that has some darkening and irregularity to the patina. There are some small chips to the the glass here and there along the edges and corners that are notable on very close inspection. There is a softening and wear to the glass along the edges and faceting as well which dims the sparkle a bit. There are no other irregularities to the setting or signs of repair and the piece has a firm shape. /2 at its widest point in front. Mark Signed Czechoslov on the back of the clasp. Czech or bohemian glass created from the end of the Victorian era through the mid-century was world-renowned for its unprecedented resemblance to natural gemstones.

Skilled craftsman from the region engineered new methods of cutting and coloring glass to simulate the look of rubies, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and more. In addition, Czech glass jewelry makers were highly trained in the metalwork for the settings around the glass. The Czech region produced so many different styles (all of superb quality) that Czech glass pieces have become their own collectable category. Movement in jewelry is an indicator of a higher end piece, as it demonstrates that the designer considered how the jewelry would look and feel when it was actually worn. For example, high-end pieces often adjust to different necklines or wrists for comfort and a seamless look.

Other times, movement is strategically incorporated for gemstones to catch the light or to enhance the sparkle of a certain gemstone cut. _gsrx_vers_1233 GS 8.1.1 (1233).
