Rare Oval Compote Bowl Antique American Brilliant Cut Glass Crystal Krantz Smith

This is a Unique & rare cut glass Footed Bowl / Compote. It is an oval deep shape like a football on a pedestal foot. This was marketed as a Comport, and they made small Salt dishes that they said could be used with this compote as a Nut Dish set. Interesting marketing for sure and would be cool to find the salts for it. Measures: 6-3/4" long by 4" wide by 5 tall.

This is from the American Brilliant period (1870 to 1920's). This is a fantastic shape comport. This one is hard to part with- she's a real beauty & a rare one.

You can see it on pg. 5 of one of the Boggess collecting encyclopedia books where it is listed as rare & unknown.

You can also see it in the Krantz Smith catalog on pg. 88 as the Tokio Comport no. 239 where they mention the salts are also nut dishes. Picture included from catalog above. Condition: It is over 100 years old so its nice for the age- I see no obvious/visible chips around the top rim so it displays great- but there may be a few tiny invisible contact nips here or there which is typical these days- I will picture close up around the rim- no one would ever notice these tiny imperfections.
