This is a lovely cut glass Footed Bowl / Compote. This one is pretty high quality for compotes, displays wonderfully. Measures: 9" tall by 5" wide top rim but its about 6 due to cupped shape. This is from the American Brilliant period (1870 to 1920's).
This is a fantastic comport. I have had 2 others in this pattern, but they had different stems and bases. This one is very nice with a hollow stem that is accented with prism notching and triple miter accent lines. A large wafer connects it to a fabulous Hobstar cut base...I do notice that the same shape rim cutting is found on this one and the other two that I had so that characteristic does not change. This design is unknown and unknown cutting house but it is always found on high quality blanks and I believe J Hoare may have been the cutter because I have seen 1 that was signed but the rest are not that I have seen. Condition: It is over 100 years old- No chips around the top rim so it displays great. Underside of base may have appropriate age scratches from surface contact but looks good.
This is for 2 reasons- We sell antiques / vintage goods, therefore they are used, I provide photos of the exact items and not stock pictures so you can always see the exact item you will get.
