Matching Pair Compotes Candy dishes, American Brilliant Period Cut glass Crystal
This is a Great matching pair of Compotes. Great for display, using for relishes or candy. Measure: 6" wide top rim by 5" tall. It is from the American brilliant period, (late 1800's to 1915) which is over 100 years old now! I would start with Buffalo, P&B, Quaker or Clark for this type of flashy Geometric design containing both Hobstars & Pinwheels of quality.
These have great petticoat shaped bases. Condition: This cut glass is over 100 years old. Bases may have scratches from surface contact which is normal. The sawtooth rims of cut glass can have microscopic contact nips on the inside or outside of teeth that no one notices, these do not have a lot of nips but may have a few teeth with invisible wear.
One compote has 2 teeth with minor chips that I will point out above. The other compote has 3 teeth with minor noticeable nipping but not bad- also a tiny fleabite on the edge of the base that no one will notice. Some people opt to have nips and fleabites smoothed out by a professional these days or leave them as is because its typical wear. Therefore it will be treated as such. I pack to survive, but if they break it I will need pictures to file the claim online.
