Here we have a most attractive and usable antique clear lead crystal cut glass water jug dating from the Regency period, circa 1820. It has a 1 pint capacity. This Anglo-Irish jug is heavy at 1kg in weight and stands 14.5 cm high. It has a globular shape, 12cm in diameter and a handle that has been pulled from the top down - the method of production of antique water jugs of the 18th and early 19th century. The jug has panel cuts below a wide band of diamonds with long, deep curving cuts under the lip.
The handle has a thumb cut to the top and a nicely detailed cut square shaped terminal. The base has been star cut.
The jug is a high quality item and would have graced the table of a wealthy home in its day. It has clearly been treasured over the years and is in excellent condition. This is a very nice example of antique, early 19th C glassware for the table, a lovely piece for display and use. Please see my other antique glassware also listed for sale.
