Antique Georgian Cut Crystal Glass Large Water Jug 18th c Possibly Irish
Hand made blown and cut crystal jug. The exact age and origin are unknown, the jug is u. Nmarked, typical of glass from this period. There is a slight grey tinge to the glass, fairly common in pieces from the late 18th / early 19th Century period. Polished with lens cutting below. The body of the jug has bands of panel and lens cutting flanking diamond and star cutting which taper in a linear "V" shape towards the base of the handle and ribbed vertical cuts just above the smooth polished base which has an off centre polished pontil. The strap handle has been cut and polished with a "thumb print" at the top. Beautifully cut design, large diamond and seven point fan cut with thumb print rim and star cut base. Condition, there are a few small nibbles around the rim otherwise it is in good order free from other chips and cracks.
This is a large jug measuring approximately 8 high with wear to the base commensurate with age. Please see the photographs which are an integral part of the description.
