Antique CUT CRYSTAL PERFUME BOTTLE with Sterling Silver Top & Glass Stopper 1893
This is a charming late 19th century cut crystal perfume bottle with its original glass stopper and beautiful repousse sterling silver hinged top. The base of the silver top has the markings, "Sterling 8208" which is the quality of silver just below. 925 (or so upive read) and below that is engraved what at first I thought was a sword but in fact I'm quite sure it's the year "1893". CONDITION - Overall this perfume bottle is in very good condition. However there are parts of the sterling silver top that haven't aged as well the rest of the bottle. The sterling silver top's base is slightly dented and I believe there must have been a rubber washer or similar that lined the inside of the rim silver top, which is gone. So while the silver top rest perfectly on the bottle, it's a bit loose. The hinge remains good as new- I polished the silver and left a bit of tarnish for fear of wearing away the silver and personally I like a bit of tarnish to really see the design and character. The crystal has very faint yellowing in certain light but a soft tooth brush, dish soap and water should take care of that. There are no chips, scratches, or cracks. 4 inches diameter at its widest 8 in. Neck - 2 ¼ inch long. Silver top - 1 in. Thanks for stopping by and please contact me with any questions or concerns. Shop safely and remember to always wear a Helmüt.
