Fantastic PAIR of Victorian Console or Mantel Trumpet Vases Made by the venerable PAIRPOINT / Mt. This pair of footed vases have a beautiful 36-point radiant (flaming) star covering the original (hand blown) pontil mark. 12" tall x 5" wide. A wonderful, brilliant bullicante orb is attached to the foot. Daylight, like dew, is caught inside the brilliance of the controlled bubbles.
A tall mouth blown trumpet is quite exaggerated and flares out to a wide opening. Wheel-cut intaglio engraved design that covers the entire surface. Marvelous patterns of three - triple arched columns containing cascading stria, top to bottom, with a centered pattern of a floral festoon with upward swags of leaves.
The arched panels are divided (in three's) by all over area of (the look of) hammered copper in a fine annealed texture. This highly polished copper-wheel cut engraved all-over pattern on blown glass was originally introduced in England by Thomas Webb at Stevens and Williams. Rock crystal pieces of this quality were also produced in America by the better glass houses of Hawkes, Steuben, Pairpoint and Dorflinger. Although unsigned, these Pairpoint vases bear the caliber and quality of the finest glass maker. There is a small number of scratches on the outside edge of the base. NO chips, flea bites or repairs. Of course, you can use them separately, but when used together, they require your full attention. Truly marvelous additions to any collection!
